[SlimDevices: Unix] Mounting LMS library on external hard drive with Picoreplayer

Total linux noob here with a simple question that I can't seem to sort
out. I am trying to use Picoreplayer and have downloaded and installed
LMS on it. I have an external hard drive with my music plugged into the
raspberry but it does not show up under the LMS menu on picoreplayer as
a usb drive to mount and so I cannot see it in the LMS administration
webpage. The hard drive is a 3tb Western Digital MyBook that is
formatted as exFat. How can I get picoreplayer to see it? What would
the mount path be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

That drive probably also has a GPT partition table. Automated support
for that will be resolved in the next version. You can manually
install support by going to the "Extension" page then in the drop down
of packages, look for package "util-linux.tcz" Install that package,
and you should be set.

I'm not 100% sure I've tested exFat, but it should be fine.

Hi Paul,

I downloaded that extension and now it can see my drive. When I choose
it and click "set usb mount" it prompts me to fill out the mount point
field. What do type in the blank following /mnt/? I tried /dev/sda1/
since that is what it sees but that didn't work. Sorry for the simple
questions but I am not sure what to do.

Eyrex,

Thanks for your reply but I am trying to attach the usb drive directly
to my pi and not to the router.

The mount point is whatever you want. For example /mnt/music.

Once the drive is mounted, then you will want to make sure that you set
that path within LMS as the music library location.

So I can see the path in LMS but my music does not show up. When I
click on "music" it does not drill down to see my folders on the hard
drive. I am not sure what to do now.

You are going to have to do some detective work and use SSH to connect
to the Pi and work out the path but this is no bad thing to do now
because piCorePlayer havent impemented Samba (yet) so if you want to put
new music onto the disk you are going to do it using SSH.

Get yourself a copy of WinSCP.
Set up a connection to the Pi using its IP address - use the default pCp
username and password - tc and piCore respectively.
Now make the connection and in the right hand window navigate to
/mnt/music (or whatever you called it) then drill down further until you
find your music files and make a note of the full path - it could be
something like /mnt/music/exFat/somethingelse/music

You can use WinSCP to add new music files.

Just wondering about that IP address, is it a NAS address allocated by a
PC or is it the IP address of your RPi allocated
by the Modem? PS< newbie to rpi here too. (hope you can
